Lyrics

Nick Arnstein actually appears again in Funny Lady
He's, uh, come backstage after seeing her show
And Fanny thinks "Oh my God, maybe he wants to get back together again"
There's a scene in her dressing room where he puts his hand on her shoulder
And she sees a, a wedding ring on his finger, and, uh
She realises he's never coming back
But Fanny wasn't the type of gal to, uh, to wallow in misery
So she will go on, she'll do another show and another show after that
As she tries to forget him
Fa-anny-anny
Ain't she got fun (wah-wow)
Fa-anny-anny
She's the luckiest one
Every night's a party where the fun never ends
You can circle the globe with my circle of friends
Someone I am crazy for is crazy for me
I'm his personal pet
Wow, how lucky can you get?
Fa-anny-anny
Ain't she got fun (yeah, yeah)
Fa-anny-anny
She's the luck-
The luck-
The luck-
(You sound like a broken record, girls) the luck-
Ha, the luck, luck
You think it's fun being famous?
Having a big career?
Everybody recognising you?
Having people ask you for autographs
When you're reading sparabs?
Well, let me tell you how it's really like
It's fan-fucking-tastic
Hey there, gorgeous
Big success
What's your secret, gorgeous?
Just lucky I guess
Satin on my shoulder and a smile on my lips
Money in my pocket right at my fingertips
Wrap it up and charge it, that's my favourite phrase
When I see the chauffeur think I'll give him a raise
How lucky
Life's a bed of roses whirling perfume on me
You can spare me the blues, I don't sing in that key
And if there's a man who'd leave me, I'm happy to say
I haven't run into him yet
Gee, wee, wow
How lucky, how lucky can you get (how, how, how, how, how, how, how)
Lucky, yeah
I'm so lucky (yeah)
Thank you
Thank you so much
Wow, don't fall out of those chairs
Yeah

"Her name is Barbra Streisand. She is 20 years old, she has a three-octave promiscuity of range, she packs more personal dynamic power than anybody I can recall since Libby Holman or Helen Morgan. She can sing as loud as Ethel Merman and as persuasively as Lena or Ella, or as brassy as a Sophie Tucker ... and only Barbra Streisand can turn 'Cry Me a River' into something comparable to Enrico Caruso having his first bash at Pagliacci. When Streisand cries you a river, you got a river, Sam ... and she will be around 50 years from now if good songs are still written to be sung by good singers." — Syndicated columnist Robert Ruark, on her 1963 performances at the Blue Angel.
